Australian nutritionist Leanne Ward spoke about the dangers of dieting for weight loss. This is reported by the Daily Mail.
According to the expert, in order to lose weight, an active metabolism is necessary, and with prolonged diets and fasting, it slows down. “Sometimes, to improve metabolism, you need to eat more, get rid of the calorie deficit and put on a few pounds in order to then lose weight again,” she says.
To speed up your metabolism, Ward recommends consuming protein with every meal, avoiding a calorie deficit, exercising with weights, and getting a good sleep every night.
“When you eat right, exercise regularly and sleep well, your metabolic rate will be good,” she explained.
Ward noted that people need seven to nine hours of sleep per night, and not only the duration, but also the quality of rest is important. To get better sleep, she recommends limiting blue light before bed and not going to bed immediately after eating or drinking alcohol.
Earlier, Ward talked about proper nutrition for weight loss. According to her, you do not need to starve yourself or give up your favorite foods. It is enough to keep track of the portion size.
