Dmitry Lisovets, Chairman of the Health Committee of St. Petersburg, commented on the situation with the pandemic.
“Within two to three weeks, the rate of decline in the incidence of a new coronavirus infection, which was observed throughout January and the first half of February, has slowed down. The number of hospitalized people is practically not decreasing and has stopped at an average of 350 hospitalized people per day, "he said in an interview with Petersburg Diary.
According to him, this figure is about 70% higher than in the interval between the first and second waves, when about 180-190 patients were hospitalized per day.
As Lisovets noted, if there is a stable increase in the incidence within two weeks, the city will begin to implement a plan to deploy beds.
“Therefore, it is necessary to get vaccinated to avoid this highly undesirable scenario,” he added.
Earlier, the candidate of medical sciences, immunologist Zoya Skorpileva, in an interview with URA.RU, commented on the message that doctors had identified cases of prolonged infection with coronavirus - in the body of carriers of leukemia, traces of the virus were recorded for more than six months.
