COVID-19 is not going anywhere and one should prepare for the fact that seasonal peaks of its spread will flare up in all countries of the world. So says the chief physician of the capital's hospital 71 named after Zhadkevich and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov.
I think the coronavirus will go around the planet, including in our country, will reach a plateau and smolder, periodically breaking through peaks, most likely seasonal, '' NSN quotes him as saying.
According to Myasnikov's forecasts, the coronavirus will not disappear anywhere and people will still die from it. At the same time, predictions that the population immunity of Russians to it will be formed by July are questionable.
It's not so linearly simple that we will now vaccinate a number of millions of people and we will have population immunity, '' Myasnikov explained.
The fact is, the doctor continued, that humanity is still not very familiar with the virus and strains that appear in different parts of the world. At the same time, Russian vaccines, Myasnikov emphasized, are able to protect against new varieties of COVID-19. The TV doctor explained that vaccination will reduce the number of severe cases and deaths, but there is no certainty that the vaccine will help break the chain of distribution.
Earlier, Myasnikov turned to his colleagues and urged them to distinguish between “covid-ARI” and “covid-pneumonia”. He emphasized that these are different diseases and require a different approach to treatment, NEWS.ru reported.
