Foodborne botulism is a poisoning that occurs as a result of the ingestion of botulinum toxins contained in food. Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov spoke about which products most often contain such dangerous toxins.
Food can become contaminated if it has not been properly reheated, handled, or prepared. The expert said on the air of the TV channel "Russia 1" that the most dangerous in this regard are homemade canned food and pickles. He recommended boiling the jars, since this way you can get rid of botulinum toxins: substances produced by bacteria do not tolerate high temperatures.
“But what about the mushrooms, you ask? And this is at your own risk. This is Russian roulette, Myasnikov commented. In addition, he added sausages, salted and smoked fish to the list of dangerous products. According to the doctor, they are dangerous, since neither the smell nor the appearance in them can determine the presence of botulinum toxins. The doctor urged to adhere to proper nutrition, then the risk of contracting botulism will decrease.
Earlier, Alexander Myasnikov named products that reduce the risk of diabetes. He recalled that type 2 diabetes can appear due to genetic predisposition, age and overweight. In this case, it is important to take into account not only the total body weight, but also the distribution of body fat.
