TV presenter and doctor of medical sciences Elena Malysheva said that men should first of all be wary of the coronavirus. In a video posted on Instagram, the specialist explained why there is a higher mortality rate from COVID-19 among men.

“COVID does not have a female face! Coronavirus is a disease that is more severely ill and from which men die more often,”the TV doctor emphasized.

According to her, experts explain this fact by the fact that there are properties in the main female sex chromosome that help in the fight against the virus. Malysheva added that they appeared due to differences in the structure of the X and Y chromosomes. “In this quarter, nature has laid down colossal protective properties for us,” she said.

The specialist said that among the advantages are the presence in the female body of receptors that prevent blood clots from forming and keep the vessels wide, as well as a high content of cytotoxic lymphocytes. “Men have many factors that form blood clots. And for the coronavirus, the formation of blood clots is the main mechanism for the development of the disease,”the presenter concluded.

Earlier, Elena Malysheva named Russians from risk groups who need to be vaccinated against coronavirus infection. She included age over 65, obesity, chronic kidney disease, lung disease, oncological and cardiovascular diseases to such criteria.
