Some symptoms should never be ignored. Behind the "usual" headache, dangerous ailments can be hidden, Alexander Evdokimov, an osteopathic doctor and neurologist, is sure. According to the expert, any headache is a symptom of a condition. Since there are many such conditions, it is not easy to recognize the true cause of poor health. Most often, people experience tension headaches. “Its causes are, as a rule, tension in the cervical spine against the background of static postures, improperly organized workplace, violation of work and rest regime, high stress and physical inactivity,” the doctor said in an interview with 5-tv.ru. As a rule, such a condition, although unpleasant, does not pose a threat to life. But there are signs of a "dangerous" headache (usually, this is a sharp jump in pressure - a manifestation of a hypertensive crisis): pain that appears suddenly (this should be especially alarming if there were no such symptoms before); increased heart rate; difficulty breathing; sweating; flushed face; red eyes. To minimize risks, it is important to regularly measure your blood pressure with a blood pressure monitor. If there are signs of a hypertensive crisis, it is important to sit down and rest. “Complications of a hypertensive crisis are stroke and heart attack, and these risks increase with high blood pressure. If the pressure does not decrease within an hour, an ambulance should be called. If the condition stabilizes, then you should contact a therapist,”the expert advises. In this case, not only the intensity of the headache is important, but also the frequency of its occurrence. According to Evdokimov, headaches that occur every day for a month may indicate changes in the blood flow of the brain. And this can also happen due to cancer. Also, the cause of headache can be pain in the sinuses. As the doctor warns, if, against the background of pain in the sinuses (this may indicate the appearance of sinusitis, sinusitis and other diseases), a sharp headache also appears when bending over, you need to sound the alarm: “These symptoms may indicate diseases such as meningitis or encephalitis … You also need to urgently consult a doctor, if at the same time a high temperature - call an ambulance and urgently be examined. The most severe cases are when the ternary nerve becomes inflamed or cluster headache appears. In this case, it is definitely impossible to do without the participation of doctors: "You should definitely share your suspicions with a doctor, especially if the throbbing pain in the head is of a seasonal nature." By the way, the Russian doctor called the side effect of chewing gum an unexpected side effect. Photo: Depositphotos
