Otorhinolaryngologist Anna Kolesnikova revealed factors affecting the severity of a cold. She spoke about this in an interview with Channel Five.
According to her, those who are a lot of nervous get infected with colds faster than others. The specialist noted that stress contributes to the production of cortisol, which negatively affects the body's ability to defend itself. At the same time, Kolechnikova emphasized that people with a high level of stress also get sick longer than others.
In addition, among the factors influencing the course of the disease, the expert named genetic predisposition and physical activity. She explained that getting in good shape and exercising regularly can reduce the chance of catching a cold by up to 50 times.
The specialist also added that the susceptibility to infections is directly affected by the immunity that is developed when meeting with pathogens. Nevertheless, she noted that there are erased and atypical forms of the common cold, in which a person cannot even understand that he is sick.
Earlier, British general practitioner and TV presenter Sarah Jarvis listed three easy ways to get rid of a cold that do not involve taking expensive medications. So, according to her, the first method is a throat spray, which creates a protective barrier against germs.
