MOSCOW, Dec 10 - RIA Novosti. The Pfizer vaccine may be contraindicated for people suffering from allergic diseases, as it is an RNA-containing drug, says Alexander Gintsburg, head of the Gamaleya Center.
"Regarding the Pfizer vaccine, yes, since it is an RNA-containing drug that is injected in large quantities directly into the human body, then in the human body … there is a system of interferons that reacts very actively to any foreign RNA that is introduced into our body. And it is possible that this form of vaccine, which is used by Pfizer, may just be contraindicated for those people who suffer from allergic diseases, and whose immune reactivity is naturally increased, "- explained Gunzburg on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.
The Pfizer vaccine, the expert suggested, will require additional research to determine if it can be used by allergy sufferers.
