Almost half of patients with cancer symptoms during the coronavirus pandemic were afraid to call doctors. They did not sign up for consultations in hospitals, even when they coughed up blood or developed strange tumors. This conclusion was made by scientists from Cardiff University and the Cancer Research UK charity. The study was conducted in the UK. A total of 7,543 adult patients with cancer symptoms were interviewed. Of these, 3025 from March to August last year, when the pandemic began, developed at least one cancer symptom. Despite this, 1,355 of these patients were afraid to see a doctor. A significant part of these people did not go to doctors when the development of cancer became obvious - moles and unexplained tumors appeared on the body, writes the Guardian. The reason people were afraid to see a doctor was the self-isolation regime and the threat of contracting the coronavirus. People were afraid of getting sick and did not want to distract doctors who were busy treating patients with covid, scientists say. In the meantime, researchers have drawn attention to the danger of such behavior, since in the case of late diagnosis, cancer is often impossible to cure. Cancer Research UK CEO Michelle Mitchell emphasized that the best chances of beating cancer are early treatment. “Therefore, we are extremely concerned that people have begun to delay treatment when the first symptoms of cancer appear,” Mitchell said. Invest-Foresight previously reported that, according to Elena Malysheva, an overdose of vitamin A can provoke the development of cancer. Vitamin A is found in cod liver, frozen parsley, carrots and paprika. Subscribe to the Invest Foresight channel in Yandex. Dzene
