MOSCOW, February 17. / TASS /. People who have had asymptomatic coronavirus infection can get sick again six months or a year later in a more severe form. This was stated on Wednesday by the chief physician of the Leader of Medicine medical center, pediatrician, infectious disease specialist Yevgeny Timakov on the air of the Moscow-24 TV channel.
"People who had been ill in a mild asymptomatic form six months or a year ago begin to get sick again, and, accordingly, this is no longer an asymptomatic form, but a more severe one," he said.
Timakov also noted that new strains of coronavirus may appear in Russia in about two months. According to the infectious disease specialist, given these factors, it is dangerous to cancel the mask regime in public places. "There is a large group of people who are very susceptible to coronavirus. Until we have normal sunny days, constantly open windows in the room, that is, until the summer and heat began, I consider it extremely dangerous to cancel the mask mode in public places," he added.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 109.5 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the world, over 2.4 million have died. In Russia, according to the federal operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus, 4,112,151 cases of infection were registered, 3,642,582 people recovered, 81,446 died.
