MOSCOW, 20 Feb - PRIME. Separate nutrition can lead to the emergence of chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, said in an interview with the TV channel "Zvezda" valeologist Nadezhda Chernyshova.
In her opinion, separate nutrition can be dangerous, since any severe restrictions on food can cause a deterioration in human health.
The doctor noted that such a nutritional model can lead to the occurrence of chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), as well as depletion of the digestive system.
Chernyshova stated that the founder of the theory of separate nutrition was the naturopath Herbert Shelton (USA). He had no medical education.
His followers, who followed a very strict diet, at some point began to die of digestive disorders.
Some of the followers of this diet ate only water and juices.
"Because of this diet, a seven-year-old girl, whose father fed her in this way for 41 days on Shelton's recommendation, died of pneumonia," the doctor explained.
She also noted that the human stomach and duodenum are designed in such a way that they can simultaneously digest different types of foods. In addition, people are evolutionarily accustomed to eating mixed foods.
"If we don't add something, the body spends additional energy to compensate for the lack of this product," the specialist noted and summed up that the main thing in nutrition is not to overeat. This is especially true during the holidays.
