"I can say absolutely definitely that the consumption of alcohol, drugs, nicotine-containing products increases the likelihood of contracting a coronavirus infection and aggravates the course of the disease," RIA Novosti, a narcologist, said. He also noted that people infected with COVID-19 who suffer from alcoholism suffer the disease more severely. Earlier, therapist Olga Burlakova said that the consumption of foods that change the acid-base balance in the body increases the risk of COVID-19 infection. According to her, maintaining the acid-base balance is necessary for the normal course of biochemical reactions, the optimal functioning of enzymes and the preservation of immunity.
