The consumption of alcoholic beverages, drugs and tobacco products increases the risk of contracting coronavirus infection. This was stated by the chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist of the Ministry of Health Yevgeny Brun. "I can say absolutely definitely that the consumption of alcohol, drugs, nicotine-containing products increases the likelihood of contracting a coronavirus infection and aggravates the course of the disease," RIA Novosti, a narcologist, said. He also noted that people infected with COVID-19 who suffer from alcoholism suffer the disease more severely. Earlier, therapist Olga Burlakova said that the consumption of foods that change the acid-base balance in the body increases the risk of COVID-19 infection. According to her, maintaining the acid-base balance is necessary for the normal course of biochemical reactions, the optimal functioning of enzymes and the preservation of immunity. As Burlakova clarified, the greatest danger is posed by products made from white flour, cow's milk, refined sugar, as well as alcohol, strong tea and coffee.
