Anatoly Altstein, a virologist, professor at the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, explained why the coronavirus vaccine is safe for people.
“The people who developed this vaccine know that the vaccine doesn't cause anything bad in quite a few people. There is no reason for any serious and long-term consequences. This is not a live virus. It enters the body, then it all falls apart and disappears, does not go anywhere, - said the scientist.
Virologists are looking at how long-term immunity develops after a vaccine, Altstein said. He stressed that antibodies develop during vaccination, and one can be sure that a person will be protected after vaccination. It will be possible to judge the duration of the vaccine in six months.
The virologist himself received the vaccine, despite the fact that he is 85 years old. According to the scientist, the virus that is in the vaccine cannot multiply in the human body. It can produce immunity and antibodies.
