Somnologist Mikhail Poluektov said that the coronavirus infection affected the sleep of the Russians who had recovered. He announced this in an interview with Sputnik radio. "At the onset of the disease, people lose sleep or it sharply worsens. Then, when the underlying disease develops, the person begins to sleep more than usual. When the statistics were calculated, it turned out that people infected with coronavirus infection, somewhere in 37% of cases, experienced such problems with sleep, "said the somnologist. At the same time, he stressed that those citizens who did not have an infection were also reported about problems with sleep. According to him, this was due to a change in the usual physical activity and negative news. Poluektov noted that all this led to an increased anxiety. "Such an increased expectation of something unpleasant is the enemy of sleep. It has been shown that approximately 30% of people who did not have coronavirus have received sleep disturbances," the specialist said. Earlier, the president of the Russian Society of Somnologists, Roman Buzunov, spoke about the causes of insomnia, as well as ways to deal with it. According to him, it lies in a disturbance in the rhythm of sleep. The specialist clarified that even healthy and emotionally stable people can face this disorder. The specialist recommended to allow a shift in the sleep rhythm as rarely as possible. However, if this did happen, it is better to read a book, sort out the puzzles, said Buzunov. He stressed that in this case it is not recommended to turn on the TV or computer, which will only distract from sleep.
