There are several methods of getting rid of nightmares. The President of the Russian Society of Somnologists, Professor Roman Buzunov told Vechernyaya Moskva about this.
According to him, the easiest way to sleep well is to have a good day, without stress or overexertion. “This year is clearly not conducive to good sleep, we are constantly under stress, all this is transmitted to dreams. A kind of post-stress syndrome,”the doctor explained.
He noted that abstraction from news and information monitoring will help alleviate psycho-emotional overload. It is advisable to take a walk during the day, exercise regularly, and limit caffeine intake.
Buzunov clarified that there are two categories of nightmares. In some, a person periodically dreams of various plots in which the brain is trying to find a way out of the situation. If this can be done, the incident is forgotten. The second category is obsessive nightmares that are constantly repeated, and a person cannot make a decision, adapt and forget the dream. In the latter case, the help of a psychologist may be required.
Earlier, the director of the rehabilitation center of the First Moscow State Medical University named after Sechenov, traumatologist-orthopedist Konstantin Ternovoy said that a properly selected mattress would help improve sleep.
