The approval of the Russian drug Sputnik V for vaccination of European countries by the EU regulator can significantly help the EU countries in the fight against coronavirus. This is stated in an article by the Spanish newspaper LVanguardia.

The article notes that the publication in the scientific publication Lancet of the conclusions about the Russian drug confirms its safety and effectiveness. At the same time, as the authors of the article remind, RDIF announced Moscow's readiness to provide EU countries with 100 million doses of vaccine.

If the vaccine is approved and these doses are distributed, they will make it possible to vaccinate about 5 million people in Spain and 50 million throughout the EU, - TASS quotes an excerpt from a publication in a Spanish newspaper.

According to EU regulations, Spain, when distributing vaccines received by the European Union, can count on 10% of the batch received, since the country is home to a corresponding share of the total EU population. Today, about 47 million people live in Spain. Mass vaccination of the population against coronavirus in the country started at the end of December.

As NEWS reported, ru, the scientific journal Lancet published the results of the third phase of clinical trials of "Sputnik V" on February 2. According to the journal, the vaccine was 91.6% effective based on an analysis of data from 19,866 volunteers who received the first and second injections of the vaccine or placebo. There were 78 confirmed cases of coronavirus at the time the final checkpoint was reached.
