“I noticed that my colleagues are asking the question:“Why does the governor not donate plasma for transfusion to patients with COVID-19, because he himself had been ill and should have antibodies?” The question is reasonable and quite true. I answer. Antibodies after illness in I.A. Belozertsev, indeed, formed. He made a confirmatory analysis two days ago,”wrote Dina Cheremushkina in her Telegram channel on Thursday, January 14th.

According to her, “you shouldn't do this right after the illness, the result may be uninformative, it takes time for the formation of immunity”.

“When selecting donors of anticoid plasma, the following features must be taken into account in order to ensure the safety of the donor and recipient: age 18–55; body weight over 50 kg; the date of donation of plasma - no earlier than 14 days after the disappearance of the clinical symptoms of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 with a double negative smear for coronavirus; […] The potential donor-convalescent has no signs of lung tissue damage,”said Dina Cheremushkina.

She noted that Ivan Belozertsev cannot become a donor for objective reasons.

“The decision to admit a donor who has undergone a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 to the donation of anticoid plasma is taken collectively by a commission of transfusion doctors and the deputy chief physician for medical affairs. This applies to absolutely everyone. The governor's candidacy, to his great regret, since he wanted to become a donor, was rejected by doctors for objective parameters,”the press secretary of the head of the region explained.

Dina Cheremushkina added that she "was not taken as a donor either."
