As the general director of the company for research, development and registration of drugs, immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov said on the air of the radio station "Moscow Govorit", today manufacturers cannot meet the existing demand. “There are some big weaknesses. The first is the complexity and high cost of production, lack of capacity. So far, those vaccines that are heard and put out [into circulation - approx. GM], all are very difficult to manufacture. Simpler ones from the point of view of production are on the way”. He listed other difficulties in using vaccines. According to Kryuchkov, it is too early to draw conclusions about their effectiveness. “The second point is lack of research. Very fast launch of new drugs on the market, moreover, on completely new platforms. The adenoviral platform has never been used on a mass scale, and mRNA has never been used anywhere as a registered drug. The studies have only intermediate results, there is no complete understanding of the duration of immunity, long-term safety. There are others: with logistics, political - some kind of vaccine is more pleasant to someone, because it is produced in a friendly country. " The immunologist expects these difficulties to be addressed in the development of future vaccines. Kryuchkov is confident that the fourth Russian drug will already be easier to manufacture and transport.
