TOKYO, February 20. / TASS /. For the first time, Japanese doctors diagnosed a possible side effect in a resident of the country, which could occur after being vaccinated with the American company Pfizer. This is stated in a message posted on Twitter on Saturday by the office of the Japanese Prime Minister.

"Yesterday it was reported that during the vaccination at a hospital in Toyama Prefecture, one of the participants developed urticaria, which could be a possible side effect," the message says. In a statement, the office noted that the Japanese Ministry of Health "continues to collect information on possible side effects and takes the necessary measures to ensure safety, including monitoring the condition of those vaccinated for more than 15 minutes after the procedure."

Last year, Japan signed agreements with the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca, the American Modern, and the American-German consortium Pfizer and BioNTech to supply drugs for the coronavirus. On January 21, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced that the entire country expects to receive 310 million doses of vaccines. The plane carrying the first batch of Pfizer vaccine from Belgium landed at Tokyo's Narita Airport on February 12, with the second batch expected on February 21.

Vaccination in Japan began on February 17, at the first stage 40 thousand local health workers will be vaccinated, later this process can cover about 4.7 million Japanese doctors. At the second stage, which will begin no earlier than April 1, residents of the country over 65 years of age, of whom there are about 36 million in Japan, will be allowed to vaccinate. By May, vaccines may become available for other categories of citizens.
