Self-isolation is justified in the period between receiving the first and second doses of vaccine against coronavirus infection, said Professor of the Far Eastern Federal University, head of the Somov Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, virologist Mikhail Shchelkanov. His words are quoted by Interfax.

Shchelkanov noted that according to the recommendations, two weeks before the first vaccination and all three weeks between the first and second doses of the drug, maximum efforts should be made so as not to get sick. “By the way, here you can probably even go for the self-isolation to which we are accustomed, here it is really justified,” he said.

The specialist added that according to the rules, vaccination must be carried out before the period of the epidemic, but now there is no choice. “We are forced to fight a little against the rules,” Shchelkanov said.

Mass vaccination of Russians started on January 18 on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. However, vaccination has become available to certain groups of citizens since December 5 last year. The vaccine is given with the Russian-made two-component vaccine "Sputnik V".
