People who have lost their sense of smell after the coronavirus can fully restore it in the future, said senator, doctor Sergei Leonov. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
He also noted that each person has a different period of recovery of nerve tissue. To regain the sense of smell, it is also necessary to train him with "various pungent smells: food, perfume." The specialist explained that in this case, the same techniques work that people use to restore the body after an illness.
Earlier, virologist Alexei Chernovsky listed the main consequences of coronavirus for organs. He said that for those who have recovered from COVID-19, the consequences can be completely different. Among them, he noted allergic reactions, problems with the cardiovascular system and impaired sense of smell. In some cases, taste and olfactory perception are distorted in patients.
