Director of the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Khavinson told about this in an interview with radio Sputnik.
According to him, how long a person will live, how long he will feel young, depends not only on external factors that are difficult to influence, but also his own decisions and actions play an important role.
Especially important for a person who wants to prolong youth, the point concerning alcohol.
"Avoiding large doses of alcohol increases the working period of any person. The systematic intake of strong alcohol leads to accelerated premature aging. Alcohol is a poison for the liver, brain and heart cells. In small doses, the body copes with it, but in large doses it does not." - said the scientist.
Khavinson added that if the alcoholization of the population decreases, it will lead to an increase in the working life of Russians.
