A healthy person should consume about one gram of calcium per day. Sometimes, in order to reach this amount, only nutrition is not enough. At a special risk group are vegetarians, people with lactose intolerance, as well as those who suffer from intestinal diseases.

People who play sports often need to increase the need for calcium up to 1.2 grams per day. This is especially true for women, because with increased physical exertion, the amount of estrogen decreases, which is accompanied by a violation of calcium metabolism. Calcium deficiency also occurs with age: bones in older people become more fragile.

It is worth remembering that the best source of calcium is natural and fresh food. Abuse of drugs with a high content of a useful element leads to its deposition in the body, and this harms the heart, kidneys and blood vessels. Note that the necessary treatment for a deficiency of an important element is prescribed by a doctor.
