MOSCOW, February 12 - RIA Novosti. A mutation in the genome of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was recorded in patients with lymphoproliferative disease and lymphoma, said Igor Nikitin, director of the National Medical Research Center "Treatment and Rehabilitation Center" of the Russian Ministry of Health.
He noted that at the beginning of the pandemic, there were patients with oncological pathologies in the center, people who have a violation of the immune system - immunocompromise. According to him, studies show that COVID-19 flows differently, this is a different type, and there is even a point of view that the initial immunocompromising of the patient is the basis for a possible mutation of the COVID virus in the body.
"And such cases were published, two confirmed cases, one patient was with lymphoproliferative disease, the other was a patient with lymphoma. This, so to speak, was observed by doctors in the course of his treatment, a proven mutation of the genome of the SARS-CoV-2 virus," said he during a press conference at the Rossiya Segodnya MIA.
