Cynologist Vladimir Golubev gave recommendations on treating dogs for colds. The President of the Russian Cynological Federation told about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, in winter, due to the low temperature, dogs are especially at risk of colds. The specialist noted that for prevention, you should monitor the condition of the pet while walking, protect it from drafts and, if possible, wear overalls.
At the same time, at the first signs of a disease in an animal, Golubev advises to immediately contact a veterinarian. He explained that a dog's cold is indicated by symptoms such as poor appetite, lethargy, drowsiness or restless behavior, fever, cough, and others. The dog handler also added that urinary problems in a pet could be a sign of cystitis.
The expert said that for a sick animal, it is required to equip a place where it will be protected from drafts and low temperatures. He also recommended that you provide the dog with a balanced drink, a warm drink, and cover it with a blanket.
Earlier, Golubev warned that saving on food for the dog could result in the cost of treating the pet. He said that if you need to cut costs, it is better to switch not to cheap feed, but to stay with the familiar brand, but choose a more budgetary line.
