Russian doctors fix a dangerous long-term consequence in those who have had a coronavirus infection. It can affect several organs at once.
The chief physician of the clinical hospital 52 in Moscow, Maryana Lysenko, told the RT Russia TV channel that some patients after COVID-19 are diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome. Basically, it is detected in children, but recently, such a diagnosis has been made for adult patients.
The physician explained that the coronavirus can cause a complex of problems associated with the body's autoimmune response. Multisystem inflammatory syndrome, according to Lysenko, can affect both the kidneys and the heart. Now Russian doctors are establishing how often coronavirus disease leads to such complications, and how exactly is the best way to treat this consequence of COVID-19.
Earlier, "Profile" wrote about what long-term symptoms doctors have identified in patients who have recovered from coronavirus. They studied the long-term effects of COVIID-19 in 1,733 patients from the Chinese city of Wuhan.
At the same time, experts noted that so far not enough research has been carried out with recovered patients. Therefore, little information is known about the long-term health effects of COVID-19. The scientists clarified that the results of their work highlight the need for care after discharge from the hospital. 76% of participants reportedly reported continuing symptoms of the coronavirus.
