CHISINAU, January 18. / TASS /. Moldova has agreements with Russia on the supply of several hundred thousand doses of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine; the country is already preparing permits for its use. This was announced on Monday at a briefing by the leader of the Party of Socialists of Moldova Igor Dodon.

“During my trip to Moscow, I agreed with the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Dmitry Kozak that Moldova will receive several hundred thousand doses of vaccine against the Russian-made coronavirus. I know that preparations have begun for registration of this vaccination in Moldova. I hope there will be no artificial obstacles. and in a few weeks the vaccine will arrive in Chisinau, "he said.

In Moldova, a national coronavirus vaccination program was approved last week. By this time, Chisinau expects to receive about 200 thousand doses of the drug, which Romanian President Klaus Iohannis promised to deliver in December. It is not yet known which vaccine it will be - Pfizer or Moderna. At the first stage, medical workers will receive the vaccine, then it will be the turn of senior citizens, civil servants, at the third stage - the rest of the population.

In November 2020, the then prime minister of the republic, Ion Chicu, applied for assistance in obtaining a vaccine against coronavirus from Russia and the EU countries. In turn, the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, said that she would not mind if the Russian vaccine also arrives in the republic. In Moldova, where the number of people infected with coronavirus the day before exceeded 152 thousand (about 4% of the country's population), a state of emergency in the health sector has been in effect since November 30, 2020, and its validity period ends on February 15.
