Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that from Monday, December 21, 1 million Muscovites will get the opportunity to be vaccinated against coronavirus infection. This will happen due to the fact that new categories of citizens are opening up for vaccination.
“Starting Monday, we are opening an appointment for vaccination for new categories of Muscovites. These are workers in transport, energy, industry, as well as media workers. In total, there are about 1 million Muscovites who will now be able to protect themselves from covid and reduce the risk of illness for their relatives and colleagues,”he wrote in his blog.
According to the mayor, "vaccination against COVID-19 is gaining momentum."
On December 4, an electronic registration for vaccination against coronavirus was opened in Moscow. Initially, it was available to employees of medical and educational institutions, city social services between the ages of 18 and 60. Vaccination centers were opened a day later.
From December 14, employees of the MFC, culture, as well as representatives of the trade and services industry can also sign up for the vaccination.
We add that on December 15, large-scale vaccination began in all regions of Russia. At the moment, vaccinations are given with Sputnik V, the first registered COVID-19 vaccine in the world. It was developed by specialists of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamalei.
At the same time, Rospotrebnadzor reported that after the injection of the EpiVacCorona vaccine, immunity is developed within a month and a half. The development of the state scientific center of virology and biotechnology "Vector" was registered on October 14.
“As early as 5-6 weeks after vaccination, most of the volunteers vaccinated with the EpiVacCorona vaccine had an induction of a pronounced specific T-cell immune response, while antibodies were produced earlier,” RIA Novosti reported.
At the same time, Interfax, citing the Vector center, reported 100% effectiveness of the vaccine against the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) following the results of the first phase of clinical trials. All volunteers who were vaccinated with CombiHIVVac-Novo developed antibodies to HIV.
In addition, US President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that the vaccine of the American company Modern has received approval from the relevant regulatory authorities of the country.
“The Modern vaccine is generally approved. The distribution will start immediately,”he wrote.
On the eve of the relevant committee of the US Food and Drug Administration almost unanimously recommended approval of the registration of the vaccine company Moderna. Meanwhile, at the moment, the decision of the agency controlled by the US Department of Health has not been announced.
At the same time, it became known that the Modern company destroyed 400 thousand doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 due to "a problem in production." According to the adviser to the administration of the US President Donald Trump Moncef Slowey, at the final stages of "especially complex" production, problems with "filtration" arose.
At the same time, CNBC, citing lawyers, reported that the US authorities have provided American companies developing vaccines against coronavirus infection with protection from claims for possible side effects during vaccination. Also exempted from responsibility is the US Food and Drug Administration.
“The government does not want people to sue the companies that produce the COVID-19 vaccine, because in that case the manufacturers would probably demand a higher price per dose from the authorities,” explained Rogge Dunn, a labor lawyer and employment from Dallas.
