Tests for coronavirus and antibodies did not help private clinics in the Kaliningrad region to fully recover the profits lost due to the pandemic. The heads of several commercial medical institutions in the region told RBC Kaliningrad about this.

Spring restrictions and a ban on routine admission to patients led to the fact that in April 2020, the revenue of clinics, according to their own calculations, almost halved. Class Clinic operated at a loss almost until the fall, as in the summer there was a traditional decline due to vacations.

It was possible to recover, since government institutions did not get to see doctors in connection with the re-profiling of these institutions into covid centers. Therefore, people still used the services of commercial medical centers, the recession recovered almost in full by the fall, "said the general director of the clinic Kirill Shchetinin.

The co-owner of "Arsmedica" Oleg Gergel confirmed that the turnover fell by 50% in the spring. Now, it is still possible to receive not all comers, as there are restrictions on customer service with signs of SARS and fever.

We are forced to refuse some of the patients, because we have the entrance control not only of our specialists, but also of patients. At the same time, the issues related to the diagnosis of covid and, accordingly, the treatment of postcoid manifestations, added special relevance. The volume of delivery of PCR tests for self-control and for the control of people returning from abroad has increased, "Gergel said.

Tests for COVID-19 and antibodies, according to the co-owner of Arsmedica, are not significantly significant in the company's turnover and only compensate for the income lost due to the ban on admitting people with ARVI symptoms. Gergel called a "lifesaver" the rapid tests that relatives themselves can buy for a sick person.
