Professor of the FMBA of Russia, nutritionist Margarita Koroleva said that drinking coffee to “burn fat” is dangerous to health. She spoke about this in an interview with Sputnik radio.
People try to lose weight with coffee due to caffeine, which invigorates and accelerates the contraction of the heart muscle, which requires burning more calories. “What will happen to the heart if we rely on caffeine as a fat burner and for this we use up to 8 cups of coffee a day? Of course, there will be corresponding heart problems,”the expert warned.
According to Koroleva, if consumed in moderation, coffee can help you lose weight. The main thing is to drink black coffee without additives.
Earlier, Dmitry Nikityuk, director of the Federal Research Center for Nutrition and Biotechnology, said that if a person has gastrointestinal or cardiovascular diseases, it is worth cutting down on coffee consumption. The specialist added that it is worth switching from coffee to cocoa, but not drinking too much of it - it also contains substances that can affect the increase in pressure. Cocoa also contains sugar that can be harmful to the body.
