The morgue in Novokuznetsk was overflowing with the bodies of patients. TASS writes about this with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Kemerovo Region.
The department explained that the Novokuznetsk morgue receives almost all deaths from the south of the region. Against the background of an increase in the number of cases, on the one hand, the number of deaths increased. Currently, there are about 50 bodies in the morgue. On the other hand, many relatives of the deceased are themselves in quarantine due to the coronavirus and cannot quickly collect the bodies. Another reason for the accumulation of bodies in the Ministry of Health was called the shortage of pathologists.
On Thursday, October 22, it became known about a similar situation in Barnaul, where the bodies of deceased patients accumulated in the basement of the hospital No. 12. They are kept there due to the shortage of pathologists and the increased workload on them. The Ministry of Health of Barnaul also named one of the reasons for the accumulation of bodies that their relatives themselves are in quarantine and cannot come to the hospital.
According to the regional operational headquarters, the number of deaths among patients with coronavirus in the Kemerovo region has increased by 75 percent since the beginning of October. At the beginning of the month, there were 113 deaths, and as of October 25, the number increased to 197. In total, 14,351 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in the Kemerovo region.
