Immunologist Vladimir Bolibok told RT which products most often cause an allergic reaction.

“The most common effect we see with food allergies is atopic dermatitis or eczema. Most often they are caused by those foods that a person most often eats. That is, the most common allergens are those of cow's milk, wheat, cereals, eggs, poultry and various fish allergens. Each time you need to individually look at the spectrum of allergens,”explained Bolibok.

He noted that now such diagnostics are available. At the same time, the most widespread reaction is blood, the specialist added.

“That is, you can donate blood and immediately identify most allergens at once. Therefore, no need to guess, you need to contact an allergist. The treatment of food allergy itself is, on the one hand, simple, and on the other, complex. If a causal allergen is completely eliminated from food, then all symptoms disappear,”the doctor explained.

According to him, the difficulty lies in the fact that some food allergens are so common that it can be quite difficult to make a diet so that a person does not receive this allergen from food.

“We need to involve professional nutritionists to help formulate such a diet,” he said.

At the same time, Bolibok explained that there is a concept of the severity of allergies. As the expert added, for example, eating citrus fruits can suddenly cause hives in some people.

“People get scared, so the search for a doctor starts right away. This is a more pronounced reaction, but it happens less often than to the foods I have named. The same goes for nuts. Nuts are a fairly strong allergen, but they are rare, "the source said.

He also noted that another manifestation of food allergy may be a disruption of the digestive tract, but such a reaction may, on the contrary, be mild, which makes it difficult to diagnose and find a doctor.

“That is, a person is being treated by a gastroenterologist, but in reality he has a food allergy. But these reactions are implicit, not pronounced. A person can suffer from this for years and never get to an allergist for a consultation,”he concluded.
