MOSCOW, 18 Jan - PRIME. Alexander Kalinkin, the head of the Sleep Medicine Center of Moscow State University, Candidate of Medical Sciences, named a factor that increases the risk of contracting the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and other viral infections. This is reported by Regnum with reference to the radio station "Moscow speaking".

The scientist explained that lack of sleep is especially detrimental to the human immune system. In the case of a reduction in the time for sleep, immunity is sharply reduced, and the likelihood of contracting a viral infection increases many times.
According to Kalinkin, if a person sleeps for less than five hours, then the likelihood of contracting any viral infection, including coronavirus, increases for him by 250% compared to those who sleep for more than seven hours. The doctor recalled that for the normal functioning of the body, a person needs from seven to nine hours of sleep. To improve the quality of sleep, Kalinkin recommended to follow the regime, wake up and go to sleep at the same time, and also not to use the alarm clock. Instead, the expert advised using light gadgets to wake up and regulate circadian rhythms.
