The head of the Sleep Medicine Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Candidate of Medical Sciences Alexander Kalinkin reported an increased risk of contracting viral infections, including COVID-19, due to lack of sleep.

He noted that lack of sleep negatively affects the immunity of any person.

- Sleep and immunity are almost synonymous. With a reduction in sleep, immunity drops sharply, and the likelihood of catching any viral infection if a person sleeps less than five hours, compared to those who sleep more than seven hours, is more than 250 percent. Sleep is very important, it provides our immunity, - said the scientist on the air of the radio station "Moscow speaking".

To improve the quality of sleep, the doctor recommended getting up and going to bed at the same time and completely abandoning the alarm clock.
