Pavel Smirnov, the lawyer of the coach Mikhail Klishov, convicted for the distribution of doping, in an interview with SE told unusual details about the case of his client. A powerlifting instructor from Severodvinsk became the first Russian to be found guilty by a court under a criminal offense for spreading doping - the investigation claims that he injected testosterone to three of his students. At the same time, Klishov did not receive a real punishment, since the period for bringing him to justice for the actions committed in 2017 and 2018 expired.

- RUSADA on January 30, 2018 did not have a WADA license for sampling and a medical license, too, - said Smirnov "SE". - In fact, illegal actions were carried out. And most importantly, out of five samples taken, the court found that three were injected. And of these, testosterone is found in only one. But at the same time, the forbidden etiocholanolone was also found in him. That is, this comrade may have injected something else to himself. But there is an even worse factor - in his urine, the indicator of pregnanediol is 22 times higher than the norm. Of all that I have found in medical reference books, this is a substance produced by the female ovaries during pregnancy and the menstrual cycle. This suggests that the samples were mixed up.

The court rejects this, says that the significance of this factor has not been proven and that this test is female. But in our process a doctor from Arkhangelsk was interrogated, he is the head of the medical department. When asked about pregnanediola, he replied, "I don't know what it is." Plus, the head of the RUSADA investigation department was interrogated, he said the same thing. That is, the prosecution did not explain in any way where the substance of a pregnant woman came from in the urine of a 17-year-old guy. The prosecution does not prove its arguments in any way, cannot answer questions.

In a Swiss laboratory, in general, they emphasized substances that are off scale at times. Whoever did the study thought they had brought in samples of a pregnant woman. The norm for pregnanediol is 0.8%, and the guy was found to have 22.8%.

RUSADA, at the request of SE, commented on the words of the lawyer.

- Since the end of June 2017, the activities of RAA RUSADA on independent planning and coordination of testing have been officially authorized by the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA, - said in response to the request from “SE. - The corresponding letter can be found on the official WADA website. The planning and organization of RUSADA testing is carried out in accordance with the norms enshrined in the WADA World Anti-Doping Code, the relevant International Standards and the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules. Thus, as of January 30, 2018, RUSADA had all the authority to take samples from athletes and acted exclusively within its competence.

The factual circumstances of the anti-doping rule violation case are confidential information and are considered by the appropriate competent authority, which makes decisions. All information about decisions taken in relation to athletes, about their violation of anti-doping rules, including with an indication of a specific violation, substance and its class, is published on the official website of RUSADA.
