The market is not working properly, the expert said.

In the market for one of the main housing and communal services, prices continue to rise amid falling demand. This statement was made by experts, reports KONKURENT.RU.
We are talking about electricity prices. According to experts, back in 2020, the wholesale cost of this service reached its maximum values. However, as it turned out, this is not the limit. According to experts, the rise in prices will continue in 2021, and this is against the backdrop of falling demand for electricity.
As explained by the representative of "VTB Capital" Vladimir Sklyar, the reason for this situation was the mandatory non-market markups. According to the expert, at the moment the size of the allowances has reached 558 billion rubles. According to Sklyar, all this may lead to a rise in the cost of supplying services by 6% in Russia.
At the same time, experts add that the demand for electricity has fallen to record levels.
“The energy market is not working properly, deepening the recession and slowing economic recovery: price increases with reduced demand and excess capacity are contrary to market laws, encouraging industry inefficiencies and reducing the attractiveness of the energy system to consumers,” the Energy Consumer Community said.
According to experts, Russia may be left without the largest consumer of energy. This is Finland.
"The accelerated transition of Finland to renewable generation may mean for Russia the loss of the largest importer of Russian electricity by 2030," the experts explained.
It is noted that the Ministry of Energy responded to the forecasts of experts that "electricity tariffs for the population are fully regulated by the state."
