Cognac and whiskey, as well as sugary and carbonated alcoholic beverages in excess doses cause a more severe hangover and poisoning than vodka and dry alcohol, said psychiatrist-narcologist Aleksey Kazantseva.
“Sweet and carbonated alcohol gets you drunk faster, and your head hurts more often than from brut or dry alcohol. Cognac and whiskey cause more severe poisoning than vodka because of the tannins they contain,”the doctor was quoted as saying by Reedus.
He also noted that dry white wine had a headache much less often than red wine. According to Kazantsev, whiskey, genie and other elite alcohol are most often counterfeited. Kazantsev advised against purchasing these drinks at unauthorized points of sale. In turn, the psychiatrist-narcologist Alexander Ogorodnikov believes that it is incorrect to call every case of alcohol poisoning a hangover, since only alcoholics experience a hangover, while intoxication in others causes asthenic syndrome. “If this happens, then you should intensively drink mineral water, eat borscht, drink half a glass of cabbage juice and multivitamins. This would be enough to stop the syndromes,”Ogorodnikov said.
As noted by the narcologist, women are more likely to suffer after drinking alcohol than men, since their body contains 10% less water than men, which more quickly copes with the breakdown of alcohol. The specialist said that one bottle of weak beer, a glass of dry wine or champagne, 45 grams of strong alcohol can be considered safe for health if the use of these doses is not systemic.
