Over time, SARS-Cov-2 may stop responding to any COVID-19 drugs. This is due to the ability of the virus to adapt when obstacles arise in its path in the form of various methods of treatment. This was announced by Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Lukashev.

According to Alexander Lukashev, director of the Martsinovsky Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical and Transmissible Diseases, Sechenov University, COVID-19 is capable of acquiring resistance to drugs used against it.
- When something interferes with him [the virus], he changes and adapts. Therefore, with the massive use of some means of treatment, antiviral drugs, the virus will change,”Lukashev explained.
He also noted that this pattern is similar to a situation when the body develops resistance to antibiotic drugs.
In addition, the specialist said that drugs for the treatment of coronavirus infection may cause a lack of immunity to COVID-19, but the chances are slim. Writes about this TASS.
Earlier it was reported that the virologist Alexei Agranovsky gave a forecast for a new wave of coronavirus in Russia, which, according to him, is expected in the fall.
