MOSCOW, January 22 - RIA Novosti. At least 135 cases of side effects of the drug from Pfizer and BioNTech have been identified in France, nine elderly people have died after vaccination, but the link between vaccination and death has not been established, the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines said.
It is noted that most of the 135 unwanted adverse reactions "are related to expected or non-serious consequences." In particular, the vaccinated have a high fever, headache and nausea. In total, 31 cases of serious side effects were recorded, including four cases of tachycardia, these messages will be investigated further, the department assured.
"Among these severe cases, nine deaths were recorded. These were elderly people living in nursing homes, they had chronic diseases and treatment was difficult. Given the data available to date, there is no reason to believe that these deaths are associated with vaccination, "the agency said in a statement.
The agency has not received "any reports of side effects from the Moderna vaccine."
The vaccination campaign in France kicked off on December 27th. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, more than 823 thousand people have already been vaccinated in the country. Almost 3 million cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the republic, approximately 72 thousand cases have died.
Earlier, a World Health Organization committee said it sees no evidence of the impact of the Pfizer and BioNTech coronavirus vaccines on deaths in the elderly, and called for continued use of the drug from these companies.
