In our new column, we will talk about supporters of a healthy lifestyle and why it is important not to overdo it on the way to health. Wanting to benefit, it is sometimes easy to hurt yourself. Supporters of healthy lifestyle consider the Russian bath almost a panacea. Is it really so useful and safe to test the steam room, "Interlocutor" figured out. "There can be no too many baths" Anastasia Volochkova is a well-known lover of baths. She's been steaming since she was 13! - My dad Yuri Volochkov, the champion of the Soviet Union in table tennis and the coach of the Russian national team, taught me to take a bath, - says Anastasia. - My addiction began with a sauna, then a Russian bath appeared. Volochkova has her own bathhouse in a country house, in which she takes a steam bath three times a week. She says that she can enter the steam room in any condition - with a cold or lying on her feet from fatigue after the evening filming. Even during pregnancy, she took a steam bath. - For me, the main thing in the bath is intense vaping and the combination of a Russian bath with ice water. I have a font with her on the street. I run out, break the ice in the font with a hatchet and plunge. In the bath, I have a few more temperature contrasts: the steam room itself and a cold shower. In the steam room, brooms are used - fir and oak. Volochkova does not recognize birch trees: leaves quickly crumble from them, and they become biting. Anastasia is sure that the Russian bath has a good effect on her health - although the ballerina has never complained about it anyway, it removes negativity and fills with energy. According to her, this is "a panacea for any adversity and disease." Volochkova, together with her secret lover, escapes from the coronavirus in a bathhouse - there cannot be too many baths, - the star shares her opinion. - But to each his own, and I have no right to give advice. If people who have never taken a steam bath start to steam as often and as hard as I do, they will not benefit from it. Don't worry! For many people, the bath is contraindicated. In general, the steam room is entertainment for the healthy and young. Not a single attendant will get worn out and ask a client in detail about his illnesses and state of health. He is not a doctor and does not bear any responsibility. - If a person has a temperature, then I will not steam him, otherwise - if he has reached the steam room, then he can steam, - says the bath attendant Beloyartsev. Doctors would not agree with him, they do not recommend visiting the bathhouse for people with cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, respiratory diseases, acute infectious diseases, liver diseases, glaucoma, ulcers in the acute stage, patients with anemia, epileptics. Pregnant women, children under 12 years old, and the elderly should be treated with caution in the steam room. Bath tours Thanks to the supporters of healthy lifestyle, the subculture of the Russian bath is experiencing a surge in popularity. According to a survey by the Levada Center [included in the list of foreign agents], more than half of Russians wash in a bath, 32% visit a Finnish sauna, and only 24% prefer a gym or a swimming pool instead of a steam room. In Russia there is a National Bathing Association, the Bath Union, the Academy of Bathing Business, schools of bathing skills, every year there is a competition for the best bathhouse attendant in the country … perceived as leisure with health benefits. In Ufa, zealots, vegans and raw foodists organize joint trips to the bathhouse, to "a space free from alcohol, tobacco and other types of intoxicants."still from the film "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath" If you believe what the bath attendants say, then there is no better key to health and longevity: according to them, the bath increases immunity, removes harmful substances and toxins from the body, helps in losing weight … They call it a means of mental therapy, a way to relieve stress and depression. The services of a professional bathhouse attendant in Moscow start from 4 thousand and are indecently expensive in elite bath complexes. And not only in them. Ivan Boyarintsev from the village of Tyelga, Chelyabinsk Region, created several business projects based on the idea of a Russian bath: he teaches how to build baths, conducts vaping trainings and soars himself - for 25 thousand rubles! People come to this remote village from different parts of the country. “I am not doing healing, but healing - from the fragmented, broken, I make a whole,” he says. Medicine about the bath Evidence-based medicine about the benefits of the bath is silent, doctors are skeptical about its "healing properties". - As for immunity, the bath, of course, can be hardening, but hardening is not necessarily a bath, it is also a contrast shower, rubbing with a cold towel, pouring water and much more, - says therapist Albina Strelchenko. Losing weight with the help of a bath, according to the doctor, will not work: with then water comes out, and it turns out minus one and a half to two kilograms, but as soon as the water balance is restored, the numbers on the scales, alas, become the same. The therapist also does not see the point in withdrawing salts with sweat: both sodium and potassium are needed by the body, why should the process of their loss be forced? Getting rid of colds and runny nose after a bath is a myth. - If a virus has entered the body, the life cycle of a microorganism has started, then it cannot be chopped off with a high temperature. If ARVI could be treated with a bath, then the Finns, sauna lovers, would have defeated all retroviral infections long ago. If you have no contraindications, then the bath (of course, without alcoholic libations) can be considered as a kind of leisure. It's better than an evening in a bar or a hookah bar, but it won't bring you health. Not a mythical benefit of the bath: improving blood circulation, renewing the epidermis, relieving fatigue, relaxing muscles Bath and runny nose: compatible? Is it worth treating a runny nose in the bath and what it can lead to, explains the otolaryngologist Vladimir Zaitsev: - Since the bath is high temperature and humidity, then in a person with rhinitis this will definitely provoke swelling of the nasal mucosa, and he, in turn, inflammation of the paranasal sinuses … With initial rhinosinusitis, when the mucous membrane of the nose and sinuses is already inflamed, you can get a pronounced purulent rhinosinusitis. The second moment in the bath is hypothermia, when people jump into a font, a snowdrift, pour a barrel of ice water over themselves, etc. It is very important that the moment of hypothermia is not long, a few extra seconds - and even a person without a runny nose can get inflammation of the nasal mucosa and sinuses: rhinitis, sinusitis and even sinusitis. This happens often. Therefore, a healthy person can go to the bathhouse and in no case is intoxicated. Good Habit Drinking water in the morning on an empty stomach Many people have heard that drinking a glass of water after waking up before breakfast is beneficial, and this is true. How it works, explains nutritionist Mikhail Ginzburg: - A person loses quite a lot of water during the night with breathing, through the skin with sweat, through the bladder. In total, during the night, you can lose up to one and a half liters of water and wake up thirsty. But it is not always recognized as thirst, more often it is felt as discomfort, lethargy, decreased tone. The person feels overwhelmed and exhausted. In scientific language, this is the phenomenon of dehydration. In the morning, you can drink one glass of water with lemon or ginger. The water should be at normal room temperature. Some people think that you need to drink very warm water, but that doesn't make any sense. A glass of water in the morning on an empty stomach will eliminate dehydration. It is also a way to solve the problem with stool that many people experience - water is excreted in the body from everywhere: from the gallbladder, the contents of which become more concentrated, and from the large intestine. Water also kicks in the rectum. A glass of water in the morning will help people with high acidity to lower it and remove pain and discomfort in the stomach. Those who have gastritis and gastroduodenitis should be aware of this. To avoid dehydration, I would advise not only to drink water in the morning, but also at night, if you wake up, take a few sips. You should have a glass of water at the ready. * * * The material was published in the publication "Interlocutor" 01-2021 under the title "Zhenya Lukashin is resting."
