The COVID-19 pandemic can only be stopped after 75% of the population has been vaccinated against coronavirus. This was stated by the infectious disease doctor, doctor of medical sciences Irina Shestakova in an interview with the radio station "Moscow speaking".

According to the doctor, if less than 75% of people are vaccinated, then humanity will constantly “face the threat of outbreaks,” and the virus will continue to spread across the planet.

“We need to understand that when the epidemic continues and even if the vaccine is 100% effective and we cover 50% and less than 50% of the population, we will not eliminate the epidemic. The talk is that the vaccine should be at least 60-70% effective and we should cover 75% of the population,”Shestakova said.

She stressed that at the moment it is impossible to predict how the situation with COVID-19 will continue to develop in the future. It all depends on what drugs will appear on the market and what will be the coverage of vaccination of the population.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stressed that the coronavirus vaccine will be done only at will, no one will force anyone.
