Heredity affects a person's life expectancy by no more than 25 percent. Most people can live longer with an effort. Olga Tkacheva, the chief geriatrician of the Russian Ministry of Health, spoke about this in an interview with Radio 1.

The expert listed five main conditions that must be met in order to increase the life span. First you need to maintain your physical activity.
- Ecology, living conditions, and so on can affect life expectancy by 15–20 percent. And everything else is behavioral factors. In order to live longer, firstly, it is important to be in good physical shape, to maintain muscle mass, the expert emphasized.
