The authorities of St. Petersburg are ready to begin routine vaccination against COVID-19, first of all, the drug will be received by doctors, teachers and social workers, follows from the press service of the city governor's administration.
The city is ready to begin routine coronavirus vaccinations. The city has already received 5,500 doses of the vaccine, - the report says, RIA Novosti reports.
In addition, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, instructed to increase the number of vaccination stations. As of December 14, two vaccination centers are operating in the city, and in two days another 12 will open their doors to patients. By December 25, the city authorities intend to open 70 vaccination centers for vaccination with the drug "Gam-COVID-Vac" ("Sputnik V").
Beglov also instructed to improve the organization of treatment of patients with COVID-19 at home. Now about 64 thousand residents of St. Petersburg are undergoing outpatient treatment.
Two vaccines against coronavirus are currently registered in Russia - Sputnik V (developed at the Gamaleya Center) and EpiVacCorona (created by specialists from the Vector Center). In the near future, the third vaccine developed by the Federal Research Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Preparations named after V.I. M.P. Chumakova. In addition, work has begun on three more drugs at the Vector Center: one based on the influenza A virus, the vesicular stomatitis virus and the measles virus. The European Commission promises to make all the necessary decisions as quickly as possible for the admission of vaccines against coronavirus infection tested by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to the EU market.
