Everyone must choose for himself in what physical form it is more convenient for him to live. If a person has a tendency to be overweight and has excess weight in which he is comfortable, then let him live with that weight.
Many people know Dmitry as the ex-spouse of Lolita, but it is worth noting that Dima is a famous squash trainer and in amazing physical shape, which we all miss so much in quarantine. Therefore, his advice on how to get in shape will be very useful to you: Do you want to know how the bar is useful? How to do sports in the morning and what is the danger of body positive? You took an exclusive interview with Dmitry Ivanov:
- Dima, you are an athlete, our first question is how to get yourself out of bed in the morning and start practicing? Sometimes it seems impossible?
I am sure that for every person it is just a psychological factor and a lot depends on how well and qualitatively you slept. For example, my alarm clock always stands at the same time, and in order to get enough sleep, six hours of sleep is enough for me. It is these six hours that give me a boost for a positive and productive day. Many people take eight hours to get enough sleep. So everything is individual for everyone.
Every day, before getting out of bed, I do the exercise "Bicycle" - I lift my legs up and twist back and forth 25 times in each direction. Then I pull my legs up to my chest and do small, light twists left and right. Exercise "Bicycle" allows us to warm up our knees, and crunches stretch our back. After that I do the "cat" exercise - I stand up and pull up and suck in my back. And only after that I get out of bed. And so every morning for over 20 years I have been doing such exercises and little by little I wake up my body before getting out of bed. post shared by Squash Trainer (@ivanovsport) on May 13, 2020 at 1:38 am PDT - What is the minimum amount of time and exercise needed each month?
Here everything is again very individual. As a professional athlete, I do sports every day - that's my job. For those hardcore exercise enthusiasts, going to the gym three times a week is enough, and for beginners, I recommend starting twice a week. Again, it all depends on the predisposition. It's best to start with a professional because they can help you create a personalized training plan for the month and set the right athletic goals.
For example, if you have muscle tightening in your back or neck, or problems with your lower back or spine, or problems with internal organs, it is better to avoid standing in the plank.
- Are there the top three most useless exercises? Today, many are criticizing the bar.
There is no useless exercise. I find all exercise to be extremely beneficial. But it is imperative to work with professionals to eliminate the risk of injury. Here the question is different - always follow the technique of execution. Any exercise must be done efficiently. That is why I do not recommend repeating classes from the Internet, because it is better to train under the supervision of a professional. It is the coach who will be able to deliver or correct your technique. Be sure to determine the goal for which you will perform certain exercises. The goals may be different - gaining muscle mass or, conversely, losing weight, or maybe you want to tone your muscles. This requires a clear understanding. And, of course, it's worth deciding on the number of repetitions. And again, it all depends on your tasks - it can be either a few repetitions and classes of 3-5 minutes, or a circuit or strength training. Everything is very individual.
I would not criticize the bar, because doing it you work out almost all muscle groups. The muscles of the core, abs, back and legs - everything is controlled by the bar. And yet there are some contraindications to the bar that should not be ignored. For example, if you have muscle tightening in your back or neck, or problems with your lower back or spine, or problems with internal organs, it is better to avoid standing in the plank. Pregnant girls should also postpone this exercise until the postpartum period. And so, if you do not have one of the above problems, I highly recommend paying attention to such a universal exercise as the bar. post shared by Squash Coach (@ivanovsport) on Mar 24, 2020 at 10:14 am PDT - How do you feel about body positivity?
Body positivity is a positive attitude towards your body. I am sure that when a person leads a healthy and correct lifestyle and does physical exercise, he helps his body feel better and more invigorated. In fact, I do not want to impose anything on anyone. Everyone must choose for himself in what physical form it is more convenient for him to live. If a person has a tendency to be overweight and has excess weight in which he is comfortable, then let him live with that weight. Of course, one should not forget about reasonable moments - anorexia, for example, has never been and will not be something right and comfortable, no matter how a person likes to be thin.
For example, when we lived together, I did not see that Lola was trying to lose weight and all my attempts to introduce her to sports came to naught. She was against a healthy lifestyle. - We do not really want to touch upon your divorce from Lolita, but agree, after the divorce from you, Lolita lost superb weight and looks fantastic?
Yes, I saw that she lost weight and I think that everyone is inclined to choose what he needs. For example, when we lived together, I did not see that Lola was trying to lose weight and all my attempts to introduce her to sports came to naught. She was against a healthy lifestyle. I think that the reasons for her weight loss now, firstly, are related to stress, and secondly, she probably realized that it was time to get rid of excess weight. For any person, extra pounds is an additional burden on the entire body, in particular on the heart, joints, ligaments and internal organs. It is advisable not to bring yourself to a critical state and try to keep your body in good shape without excess weight.
- Maybe she will become such a reed that you make peace and again live a happy sports life?
Well, I have always lived a sports life, it is not. You do not live with a person because of how he looks and you choose him not by physical parameters, but connects people with something else. We already have a court decision, we were officially divorced, so this is unlikely to happen. - To lose weight, what foods should be excluded from the diet? Which ones to add?
I will say right away - I am not a supporter of any diets. They must be very strictly observed, and this is always fraught with stress for the body, therefore, the required amount of nutrients is not supplied. Also, you need to get out of any diet correctly, and not everyone can do this. In order to lose weight, you need to exclude from your diet fat-containing and high-calorie foods, sugary carbonated drinks, fast food. Especially watch your diet before bed. Do not overload yourself with food, because instead of resting and getting enough sleep, your body will continue to work actively. Eating before bed promotes the formation of fatty deposits and this is not good - this way you gain weight and it's not muscle at all. I recommend leaning on seasonal fruits and vegetables, there are plenty of them now. Add more protein to your diet - fish and chicken, from fermented milk products - cottage cheese.
- You are a squash champion. Maybe after quarantine, many will master this sport for themselves. What does squash generally pump, what muscle groups?
Squash is one of the best cardio workouts out there. So if you want your heart to work great, take a look at squash. This sport works best for the heart muscle, and when the walls of the heart are elastic, they can release more blood and send it into the body. This is directly related to the work of cells and improves the general condition in general. All muscles are involved in squash because there are different types of jumping and jerking movements. First of all, the legs work - the front and back thighs, gluteal and calf muscles, abs, back, forearm and upper shoulder girdle.
And according to Forbes magazine, squash is the healthiest sports game.
Before going to bed, I suggest doing something more relaxing, like yoga or Pilates, to help you sleep well. Well, very early in the morning at 5-6 o'clock, too, you should not actively load your body with training, because many are still not able to play sports at such an early time.
- Can a single, unmarried girl sign up for an individual lesson with you?
Absolutely everyone can sign up to me, regardless of status and gender. I teach classes with children, group and individual training. By the way, when I was in Egypt for advanced training, I saw that people of all ages play squash. There were also active 70+ grandfathers in very good shape. Squash strengthens joints, improves blood circulation, and this has a positive effect on the state of the body and mind.
- And one more sports question - is sports better in the morning or in the evening?
Everything is very individual - there are people "larks" and there are "owls". They often come to my workout at 7 in the morning, because such a sports start helps my clients to cheer up and tune in to the work wave. And there are those people who cannot wake up quickly in the morning, eat breakfast slowly, drink two cups of coffee and swing only in the middle of the day, and are ready to play sports in the late afternoon. And yet, I would not recommend exercising late at night or before bedtime, because training before bedtime triggers an active work of the body and it will be very difficult for you to fall asleep. Before going to bed, I suggest doing something more relaxing, like yoga or Pilates, to help you sleep well. Well, very early in the morning at 5-6 o'clock, too, you should not actively load your body with training, because many are still not able to play sports at such an early time.
Listen to your body and you will succeed!
