Strong joints give such ease that you want to run, dance and generally enjoy life in every possible way! But what if the joints are already affected by the disease? There is an exit.
Arthrosis and arthritis, alas, are getting younger. Excessive hobby for jogging and bodybuilding, when the knee joints are literally working to wear and tear, sends even 30-35-year-olds to a hospital bed.
And among older people, according to medical statistics, every third person suffers from joint pain.
- Arthritis is inflammation of the joints of a bacterial, viral or autoimmune nature. Therefore, it can strike a person at any age, - says Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vladimir Merkulov. - Pathogens can enter the joint directly from the wound located in the area of the joint. Often, microorganisms are carried through the blood or lymphatic pathways from the site of infection to other parts of the body.
Arthrosis, as explained by the professor, is characterized by degenerative-dystrophic processes in the cartilage tissue and bones. The cause of the pathology is metabolic disorders, age-related changes in the body, increased stress on the joints due to obesity or professional activity, as well as hereditary predisposition and complications of arthritis. The disease develops gradually. First, pain appears after intense physical exertion, then discomfort bothers with slight movement of the limbs and at rest, especially at night. And if arthritis occurs at any age, then arthrosis is usually formed after 40-50 years, when the body accumulates all kinds of "sores". What if this cup has not passed you? “It is necessary to treat joints in a comprehensive manner, using medicines, dietary food,” says Andrey Karavaev, Candidate of Medical Sciences. - In this case, therapy should be aimed at the cause of the disease and reducing the manifestation of clinical symptoms. In severe cases, an operation is performed.
According to the expert, there are two types of operations: organ-preserving and endoprosthetics.
In the first case, the goal of treatment is to maximize the preservation of the joint's own tissues and the resumption of physiological movements of the joint. The second option is used with significant destruction of the joint and implantation of artificial prostheses is used.
- In both cases, the treatment is very painful. After the operation, you will have to recover for a long time and be limited in movement, - explains Andrey Karavaev. - Therefore, if possible, I would recommend using more gentle methods of treatment. Both for the joints and for the body as a whole.
As the expert explained, the disease can be treated with intra-articular injections. Special drugs are injected inside the joint.
The therapeutic course usually consists of several injections, which are administered once every 7-10 days. This method is used in case of exacerbation of the disease and, in comparison with the operation, is considered safer and much less painful.
Proper physical activity can be an excellent prevention of joint diseases. Try to move more, but do not overload yourself.
