Experts told reporters about this on Tuesday at the round table "Innovative approaches to increasing the vitamin supply of the population within the framework of the national project" Demography ": the path to active longevity.
"The problem of lack of micronutrients, in particular vitamins, it was not so pronounced, now it is very pronounced, this is about 60% of practically healthy people are not protected from adverse environmental factors," said the chief nutritionist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, scientific director of the Federal Center for Nutrition, biotechnology and food safety Victor Tutelyan.
He stressed that Russian nutritionists should be guided by similar experience of foreign countries to develop algorithms for taking vitamin and mineral complexes. "Vitamin-mineral compounds are used in Japan, somewhere 86% of the population systematically, regularly consume in the form of tablets, dragees, capsules, …, the life expectancy [of the Japanese] is well over 80 years," Tutelian said.

Director of the Federal Center for Nutrition, Biotechnology and Food Safety, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Dmitry Nikityuk expressed a similar opinion and noted the importance of including vitamin and mineral complexes in the daily diet of every Russian.
"A significant part of us Russians, of course, suffer from vitamin deficiency, hypovitaminosis," Nikityuk said. He also explained that lack of vitamins reduces the quality and duration of life.
Nikityuk noted that in order to maintain the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, it is necessary to consume vitamin and mineral complexes.
