A communal accident in Saratov left more than 500 houses without cold water. They are home to 41 thousand people.
The cause of the incident was the depressurization of a gate valve with a diameter of 500 millimeters. As a result, the water supply organization "Water Supply Concessions - Saratov" made a decision to turn off the water conduit with a diameter of 900 millimeters, according to the regional head office of the Ministry of Emergencies.
As a result, 531 houses in the Leninsky and Kirovsky districts of the city got into the cold water cut-off zone (including 343 houses in the private sector). Almost 41 thousand people live in them.
Also, nine more social facilities were left without cold water, among them a school, seven kindergartens and "city hospital 8, maternity hospital 4". Since it became known about the shutdown in advance, the organizations managed to stock up on water.
As NEWS.ru wrote, Oksana Bukholtseva, a deputy of the People's Khural (parliament of Buryatia), was horrified by the sight of Astrakhan Street in Ulan-Ude, where local residents have been living for three years without a street toilet and even without a cesspool. As a result, all sewage is poured out next to the garbage cans.
