Reducing the incidence of coronavirus infection in Russia to individual cases is possible with the expansion of vaccination of the population. Pavel Volchkov, head of the MIPT genomic engineering laboratory, spoke about this.

Virologists note that the epidemic situation in Russia is gradually improving, but it is too early to talk about a complete victory over the infection.
According to Volchkov, in an ideal scenario, which is possible with an increase in the scale of vaccination, in May the number of new cases of COVID-19 in the country could drop to hundreds every day, and in August to a few.
At the same time, according to the expert, it is possible to count on a steady decrease in the incidence rate, if during this period of time it will be possible to vaccinate 32-35 million people in Russia.
Volchkov also said that he considers the weakening of coronavirus restrictions in Moscow justified, as well as the preservation of those that remain, Izvestia writes.
Earlier, virologist Alexei Agranovsky told how you can stop the COVID-19 epidemic in Russia. He expressed the opinion that the spread of the disease could end in the Russian Federation much earlier than in the rest of the world, but only if the majority of citizens are vaccinated against coronavirus.
