British doctors predicted a new sexually transmitted disease epidemic for the country. Writes about this Daily Star.
Sexual Health Association President John McSorley noted that during the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus, the number of patients who go to doctors for the treatment of gonorrhea and syphilis has decreased by 85 percent. However, according to him, the number of infected people has not decreased.
McSorley said social distancing will be the main preventive measure, as with COVID-19. In the presence of symptoms, the specialist recommended to see a doctor and begin treatment without delay in order to avoid the collapse of the healthcare system in the future due to the spread of gonorrhea and syphilis.
Earlier, the head physician of the Moscow hospital 71 and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov said that the world was swept by an obesity epidemic, which is invisible, but much more dangerous than the coronavirus. According to the doctor, nearly 40 percent of the world's population is overweight. Myasnikov stressed that when people develop obesity, excess weight further leads to diabetes, heart attacks, strokes and cancer.
