The director of the National Scientific Center for Narcology - a branch of the Serbsky Center, psychiatrist-narcologist Tatyana Klimenko warned about another group of Russians who are seriously infected with the infection, Interfax reports.

"Patients with drug addiction are more susceptible to coronavirus, they have a more severe illness, with more serious complications, they become infected more easily," she said. In addition, according to Klimenko, the same thing happens in people with chronic diseases, as well as in alcoholics and smokers.

Patients with drug addiction can be vaccinated against coronavirus, but only in remission.

Earlier, narcologist Ruslan Isaev told how alcohol consumption affects the course of coronavirus infection. According to him, a person infected with a coronavirus who drinks alcohol can aggravate the form of the disease. He explained that the severity of the infection depends on the protective properties of the body, and the use of alcohol undermines the immune system.
